Local Tea for Foreign Ears is an English-language podcast about German pop culture, told from the perspective of someone who lives here but still feels culturally “outside”.
Priscilla — Host
Originally from Brazil, Priscilla came to Germany for work and later completed her master’s degree here. Living between cultures has made her especially curious about the small details, unspoken rules, and pop-culture moments that reveal how belonging really works. As the host of Local Tea for Foreign Ears, she brings curiosity, nuance, and a love for the emotional side of cultural decoding. When she isn’t recording, she is probably watching a series or listening to another podcast.
Elaine — Co-host
Born and raised in Germany, Elaine brings a local perspective to the conversations on Local Tea for Foreign Ears. Her warmth, energy, and personal take on German culture help make every episode thoughtful, lively, and human. Outside the podcast, Elaine loves horses, Taylor Swift, and Paris—three interests she is always happy to talk about.
Julio — Co-host
Originally from Brazil, Julio came to Germany to study and has now lived here for 16 years. He completed both his master’s degree and doctorate in Germany and has also lived in India and the United States. His international experience gives him a broad perspective on culture, identity, and life in Germany. As co-host, Julio brings insight, personality, and a fresh Brazilian perspective to the conversation.
