What this show is?

Local Tea for Foreign Ears is an English-language podcast about German pop culture, told from the perspective of someone who lives here but still feels culturally “outside”.

Each episode starts with a piece of “local tea” – a TV format, influencer, event, scandal or inside joke – and asks:

  • What is this, actually?
  • Why do people care so much?
  • How does it show up in real life for foreigners who didn’t grow up here?

Who it’s for

The podcast is made for long-term foreigners in Germany, especially women and queer folks, who:

  • Understand daily life, but not always the cultural references
  • Want to feel less lost in group chats and office kitchen conversations
  • Are curious, critical and a bit tired of “10 hacks to survive bureaucracy” content
